Throughout the year, MacNair's Country Acres holds open shows such as NCHJA, NCDCTA, EHA Shows and others. We also have shows limited to the riding students here at the farm. This diversity allows beginners an opportunity to start their showing careers and gives more seasoned riders a venue to keep their competitive skills sharp.

Our advanced riders also have an extensive choice of traveling to competitions at USEF "A" and “AA” events, NCHJA, NCDCTA, EHA, and local and regional "C" shows.

We maintain an extremely active showing schedule throughout the year for both lesson students and boarders interested in showing. We believe success in showing is defined by how much improvement rider and horse make from show to show. Ribbons tell us we have done our homework well.

Please see our calendar for dates and competitions.

USEF "A" and "AA" Shows

The United States Equestrian Federation's highest rating goes to "A" and "AA" shows. The Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, North Carolina is host to four USEF "AA" shows and four "A" shows a year, and is just six miles from the farm. We also attend other "A" and "AA" shows throughout our zone and region.

Eastern Hunter Association Shows

The EHA is an association of show sponsors and individual members working together to encourage an educated community of equestrians that promotes the welfare of the horse and fairness in hunter seat competition in the sport of showing horses. Several EHA Shows are held at MacNair's Country Acres.

North Carolina Hunter Jumper Association "C" Shows

Many of the riders at MacNair's Country Acres participate actively in local North Carolina Hunter Jumper Association "C' shows throughout the state of North Carolina. Several NCHJA "C" shows are held here at the farm.

North Carolina Dressage and Combined Training Association

MacNair's Country Acres hosts several NCDCTA shows. These shows are very similar to our Open Schooling Shows but the emphasis is on dressage and stadium jumping. Riders showing in at least three of the shows are eligible to receive year-end awards presented at the last NCDCTA show of the season.

MacNair's Open Schooling Shows

In fall and again in spring, we host Open Schooling Shows for hunters and hunt seat equitation. Our Intermediate and Advanced riders have an opportunity to compete, not only against each other, but also riders from elsewhere who trailer their horses in. The jumps, footing, judges and show staff are all of superior quality. Lesson students, boarders, and riders from other farms are welcome. Formal show clothes are required.

Riding School Shows

Twice a year, MacNair's Riding School offers shows to its students where they may test their capabilities against those of other lesson students. All competitors are placed in classes with riders of similar skill levels. Classes range from beginners to more advanced riders. No special equipment or apparel is required beyond a shirt with a collar and the riding clothes worn in lessons. The horse assigned to you will be ready for you to take to the ring.

School Shows are a chance for Riding School students to experience competition and demonstrate their skills for family and friends. Please see our calendar for dates and competitions.
