We are an equestrian training facility focused on the Hunter, Jumper, and Dressage disciplines. We do not offer children’s parties or pony rides.

Students in our lesson program enjoy occasional trail and cross-country rides as part of our training program. We do not offer trail rides or one-time rides to riders who are not enrolled in our lesson programs.

Our top priority is the safety of our riders, horses, and staff. To ensure this, we do not allow unplanned visits to our facility. Any unscheduled visitors will be asked to leave our property.

We are happy to welcome you to our farm for a scheduled tour to learn more about our horseback riding lesson program, leases, and boarding options.

Children as young as 6 may enroll in our lesson program or our summer camps. We are willing to consider enrolling younger riders on a case-by-case basis.

There is no upper age limit for riders; we offer several adult-only classes throughout the week.

Group Lessons last one hour.

Private Lessons (for those who own or lease a horse) may last 30-45 minutes.

Please note that riders are responsible for grooming and tacking their horse prior to riding. Riders should plan to spend at least 30 minutes preparing their horse before lessons.

After lessons, riders are responsible for any care their horse may need, such as bathing, blanketing, turning out, etc. Riders are also responsible for ensuring that their tack is cleaned after each ride.

Yes.

Each horse at MacNair’s has a weight limit to ensure that carrying riders does not cause joint, muscle, or other health issues.

Each horse’s individual weight limit is determined by considering the horse’s size, health history, and riding use.

We can only accommodate riders weighing less than 200 lbs. in our Lesson Program.

We can only accommodate riders weighing less than 150 lbs. in our Summer Camp Program.

Horses in our lesson program are limited to jumping no more than 2’.

This ensures our horses’ health and athletic ability are not jeopardized by jumping too high or too frequently. Our lesson program additionally incorporates mandatory flat (non-jumping) days, to further protect our horses’ health.

Riders interested in jumping over 2’ should consider joining our lease program.

Yes! We work with riders of all ages toward a variety of goals. Whether your dream is to attend NCHJA Medal Finals or simply to enjoy learning horsemanship and riding skills, we want to help you achieve your horse dreams.

Billing for our lesson program occurs monthly. Payment is due on the 15th of each month for lessons scheduled that month. Invoices are emailed at the start of each month.

Payment may be made by cash, card, Venmo, or ACH debit.

Our lesson program operates 7 days a week. We offer afternoon and weekend lessons, as well as some daytime lessons for adults. Lesson groups are organized by ability. We will work with you to find a lesson time that meets your riding needs at a time that works for you.

We require that students in our lesson program commit to a weekly lesson time. This time may change as the riders’ ability progresses and they move into more advanced classes. 

We are unable to accommodate riders who cannot commit to at least one weekly lesson.

In the event of extreme unfavorable weather, we will cancel lessons. This is to ensure the safety of our horses and riders.

Riders will be given a make-up lesson for any lessons cancelled by MacNair’s due to poor weather.

Board Rates vary depending on whether your horse is Stall boarded (with turnout) or Pasture boarded. Additional services, such as Individual Turnout, incur an additional fee.

Boarders are able to ride in any of our 5 riding rings. This includes two lighted, covered rings set with jumps, two lighted outdoor rings set with jumps, and one outdoor Dressage ring.

Boarders additionally have access to our 225 acre farm, which includes miles of trails and plenty of open fields to explore. Cross country obstacles are set throughout the property.

We do ask that Borders respect that scheduled Lessons have Ring priority. Boarders should ask the Trainer prior to riding in a ring when Lessons are in progress.
